ASN - How Can We Be of Service?
ASN is contracted by organisations wishing to ensure their
objectives are achieved when they host a major event.
ASN believes the key to a successful event is exceeding the expectations of the host and
their visitors/delegates. In working with the event owner, as a part of a team, ASN
creates an environment for effective communication; firstly with the host and later with
their delegates/visitors. Effective communication will lead to a clear understanding of
the event aims. Armed with that understanding and years of experience, ASN can then ensure
the planning processes will meet those aims.

ASN was formed by Michael Pickford and Simon Monk in 1990. The Directors share over 30 years experience in event conduct and management and been involved with or controlled hundreds of events.
Mike Pickford. (B.Sc.hons Dip.Ed.) Michael has a strong background in education. He spent some years
teaching and developing innovative programs for the National Parks Service (Victoria),
before establishing and managing successfully a hydroponics food business. He is a
founding Director of ASN and has a strong history of creating innovative programs from an
informed multi-discipline background. He utilises his precise logistical and managerial
skills to frame every ASN project. Recognition of his skills within the industry has
resulted in an invitation to serve on the Florey Centenary Celebrations Committee and an
invitation to lecture at TAFE on Event Management.
Simon Monk. With nearly 20 years of business experience and hundreds of events
under his belt, Simon's management skills are well developed. He had over ten years of
experience in the entertainment business, managing venues and promoting and managing
artists, before founding ASN. He is able to accurately assess and develop projects from a
practical and functional perspective. His interpersonal and communication skills have
enabled him to build bridges for many clients and ensure that projects are developed and
conducted in an environment of harmony, respect and enthusiasm.
Stephen Robin (BA, Grad Dip Urb Soc, MPP, Cert Small Bus Mgt) With experience in public relations over two decades, Steve is focused on matching customer needs with the benefits of involvement in ASN events. Delivering marketing solutions for clients that raise their profile and contribute to the bottom line is the challenge he enjoys most.

Dr Maree Overall (PhD, Monash 1990) Maree brings a wealth of contacts and experience from the research community to ASN. Her understanding of the needs of delegates and clients hosting conferences and symposiums comes from "their side of the fence" and as a result ASN is providing an even better service to their clients.

After a full briefing from a prospective client ASN would be prepare a detailed response outlining suggested approach to the project, with recommendations and costings. ASN appreciates they must offer cost effective service and frequently offer their services on a performance based fee structure.
